
Dr. Paul Kalungi
Capacity Building & Good Practice
Paul is responsible for managing Women & Digital Inclusion (WODIN’s) initiatives to increase access to digital skills and services for black/African women to tackle the poverty and lack of income-producing activities experienced by black Africans in general in Liverpool. This means managing a range of support services in the North West, esp. Liverpool, as well as coordinating capacity-building activities in our communities.
Paul is a Chartered Civil Engineer with the Engineering Council of UK, a Fellow of the Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management (CIWEM), and a Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) with a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering. Paul is a technical specialist and he has held managerial and technical roles in the delivery of projects for clients in the UK and Africa including World Bank-funded projects. He held the role of Technical Discipline Leader (TDL) for 7 years, responsible for the technical leadership of a 45-person team charged with the delivery of projects worth about £30m. He was accountable for the performance of the team, product quality, managing the utilization of the group, and ensuring adequate resources are available for project delivery.
He has published several peer-reviewed international journal and conference papers. He is a peer reviewer for the Water Research journal of the International Water Association and for the international journal of Civil Engineering and Environmental Systems. Paul is a Professional Reviewer and Assessor for CIWEM for applicants targeting professional membership and chartership.
